Train - there's a NJ Transit train (#7825) running from NYC Penn (8:14am) Newark (8:32am) New Brunswick (7:11) arriving at Princeton Junction 9:26 am. This is the train to take from all points north of Princeton to arrive for our 10:00 am start. Keep in mind that you get off at Princeton Junction which is a bit over a mile from the start on the D&R towpath trail. We will provide a shuttle for the extra 1+ miles to the trail but you must notify us ahead of schedule so we can plan to pick you up. Pick ups service begins at 9:30. We expect to have a couple cars and the trip is short enough that cars may make two or more rounds.

Starting/Ending at Other Points - Here's a good list of plenty of small D&R lots along the trail for alternatives. See the Milestones & Schedule page for ideas.

Start (by car) - Turning Basin or Princeton Junction Parking - there is a free D&R Parking lot at the start but we don't recommend you leave your car there after dark. You could also drive to the Princeton Junction parking lot (metered) and park there and get a shuttle ride by our cars to the start.

OPTION 2 - Great Canal Walk (TR2NB40) – Trenton to New Brunswick – Sat Apr 8, 2016 (updated 3/2/17) (40 mile alternative route)

Starts: Trenton Transit Center 7:00 am – expected finish 9:00pm in New Brunswick at Train Station, Albany & Easton Ave.

Train - there's a NJ Transit train (#7813) running from NYC Penn (5:10am) Newark (5:28am) New Brunswick (6:07) arriving at Princeton Junction 6:22 am and Treton at 6:41 This is the train to take from all points north of Princeton to arrive for a 7:00 am start.

End – New Brunswick Parking - maybe the best strategy for people north of Trenton is to park in public garages across from station and take the train to Princeton Junction or Trenton if you are waling the entire 40 on April 8. The most convenient parking is right across the street at the Ferren Daily Deck. Approach from Church St one block behind - $12 per day, 24hrs, machine pay. Street parking is also possible some may be free or time limited. We suggest you arrive ready to park a ten minutes early for best choice.

Support Stops/Breaks/Lunch– We are planning at least 4 staff supported stops assisted by a gracious group of EMS and ECG staffers at miles 4, 9,12 and 20. They will provide water and light energy snack food. Bring your own lunch, drink and high carb energy snack food. Mike Krumier of the ECG will be shadowing us in his van and and EMS staffer will assist on his bike and provide extraordinary support if needed.

AfterWalk Re-Fueling – we are planning a final stop at Timulty's George St, New Brunswick just a couple blocks from the train station for a celebratory drink and some eats. Everyone is welcome.

Keep Up to Date- For further details on the walk his website http://tr2nb40.org and be sure to sign up at Eventbrite. Call me if you need help.
