Updated! Transportation considerations for the 2014 TR2NB40

on Wed, 12/22/2010 - 19:00

As in all of our FreeWalkers walking events, we try to accommodate mass transportation as much as possible. In this particular event, we'll start at the Trenton Transit Center. There is parking there and a NY train that arrives at 6:44 a.m. which can accommodate passengers from other stations, like Newark and Metropark, along the way. The endpoint of the walk, New Brunswick has parking right across from station and has good rail service. Read on for more details on getting around.

Timulty's Pub - Final Stop

on Thu, 04/04/2013 - 20:55

New Addition: For some reason a final pub destination was left out of this information. So, as a last minute idea feel free to join whoever is left in New Brunswick at Tumulty's and old Irish bar for some needed food, drink and cheer. This is, of course, optional depending on how you feel at the end of a long day. This was our last stop last year and is a few short blocks from the train station.

As the day grows long and the sun sets daylight will diminish and it gets dark a little after 7:00pm assuming good weather. That leaves almost 2 hours of walking and most of the walk was on the canal towpath. The towpath, in the final 10 or so miles, runs parallel to well-traveled roads but is still physically isolated with the canal separating the towpath from the mainland. So, walking can continue for several miles without the ability to cross over, it's oddly dark and isolated, yet very close to commercial areas such as Easton Avenue.

The main point for walkers that expect to make this
